In the Cévennes, in the middle of nature, come and descend the most beautiful and wild part of the Hérault gorges. Canoë Montana offers 3 descents on the Hérault.
We rent canoes on 3 courses to meet all desires:
- An 8 km route quiet enough for the whole family.
- A sporty 7 km descent for the intrepid.
- A route that allows you to descend the Hérault gorges over 15 km.
Start: Base Canoë Montana – Finish: Vernède Dam.
Calm descent in canoe or kayak on the Gorges de l’Hérault. Open from 6 years old. It is the family walk par excellence, it will be particularly suitable for children, nature lovers and beginners.
It takes 2 hours of non-stop canoeing plus picnic and swimming stops.
Start of the course in Ganges – Finish: Base Canoë Montana.
The most turbulent route. Descent of the Hérault gorges accessible from 11 years old. A fun course, dotted with fun passages, inclined plane, small rapids.

The best canoeing activity near Montpellier or Nîmes. The longest descent offered by Canoe Montana, accessible from 11 years old.
It takes about 4 hours of paddling. Plan the full day (between 6 and 8 hours in total) if you want to take bathing, sunbathing or picnic breaks.

This course allows you to enjoy both the sporting side of canoeing and the natural landscapes of the Gorges de l’Hérault.
Requirements for our 3 courses
To go canoeing, you must know how to swim at least 25 meters. We strongly recommend wearing a helmet, especially in the fastest passages. For each canoe or kayak rental, we provide the necessary equipment. Helmets and vests are disinfected between each descent.
A free shuttle bus returns from the Vernède dam every hour until 6:00 p.m. (one mask per person).
