This complete route starting from Ganges and arriving at the Vernède dam in Brissac, is the longest descent of the Gorges de l’Hérault. It includes both the upper part of the gorges, with its rapids and its sporty passages, and the lower part with wild and natural landscapes.
With family or friends, everyone will find something to their liking thanks to this complete course. Combining thrills and quieter sailing in the middle of the magnificent panoramas. Let yourself glide to the rhythm of the river!
Plan a full day for this 15 km long “Adventure Course” distance. You will have to paddle for about 4 hours to complete the entire route, without forgetting the various stops: picnic, swimming, sunbathing, jumping from the rocks, photo shoot… The course is available to anyone aged 11 or older.
Go on an adventure and discover our beautiful region of Occitania, between Montpellier and Nîmes ! Let yourself be conquered by the beauty of the wilderness and test your athletic abilities in the rapids of this canoe kayak descent.
A shuttle will drop you off in Ganges for the start of this fabulous course and will pick you up a few hours later at the Vernède dam near Brissac, to finally take you back to our Canoe Montana base located in Agonès. You can cool off with a good shower and enjoy our snack-bar-gelateria if you feel like it.
First, we invite you to our nautical base, located in Agonès on the D108 departmental road. Our team will be happy to welcome you and deliver all the necessary equipment: your canoe (1, 2, 3 or 4 seats), your paddles, a waterproof container to protect your belongings and your picnic, a helmet and a life jacket. After our instructors have listed all the safety instructions and given you some tips, a free shuttle will drop you off at the starting point of the canoe descent, located in Ganges, not far from Nîmes.
At the start of the adventure course, you will start the sporting part of the Hérault gorges. You will have to face the rapids of the “Glissière”, the large and small “S”, the “Piquets” and the “Moulin”. During this beginning of the route, you will also be able to admire the medieval village of Laroque while heading towards Saint Bauzille de Putois.
After crossing the Suspension Bridge, you will attack the second part of the route, which is easier than the first. On it, you can contemplate the wild nature of the lower Gorges de l’Hérault, as well as bask on the sandy beaches. Take the opportunity to take a dip and take a photo of the splendid view of the river. After passing the “Surprise” rapid, you can descend in peace to the dam of the Vernède, in Brissac, which is the arrival point.
Once the day is over and the route is completed, a shuttle will pick you up at the dam and take you back to our base in Agones. After getting rid of your equipment, you can enjoy all the facilities at your disposal: showers, toilets, snack bar, gelateria, picnic area, etc… The opportunity to share together the experience you have just lived around a good well-deserved ice cream!
The adventure course is open to children aged 11 and over. It is necessary to know how to swim a distance of at least 25 meters. We strongly recommend that you wear the helmet that will be provided to you upon arrival at the base.
